It was almost noon and I was on my way to Singapore. Like most Malaysian, I got hungry and hunt for food before crossing the border. Not far off from the route, I found Taika Huat Braised Duck on foursquare which was highly recommended.

// Braised Duck //

With a history of more than 45 years, Taika Huat is very well-known for their Teochew braised duck recipe which has now passed down to the third generation. By the number or braised duck displayed on the preparation counter, it is without a doubt that they will sell many of it every single day. They even had a hall of fame of well-known people who has visited the place.

// Hall of Fame //

The duck meat was served very thinly sliced which gives it a better chew texture and holds more gravy flavour onto every piece. The meat is chewy but I would prefer if the duck is braised slightly longer to make the meat more tender. The gravy is thick and sweet while I prefer the soupy gravy and has a stronger herbal flavour to it.

 // Braised Tofu and Egg //

A braised meal is never complete without braised tofu and eggs! Can't deny that I love all braised dishes except the internal organs. Both were braised to be very flavourful and fresh. The outer layer would be hard if the braised dishes is kept too long and even overnight.

For those who favour internal organs and other parts, you can give a try to the pig intestines, pig skin, duck wing and duck tongue.

Despite the thick gravy, I'm delighted that they serve a bowl of braised soup aside.

Although this place is said to be well-known for braised duck, there were actually many customers who recommendations their braised pork knuckles above all. It is definitely a miss as I only got to know about it after my visit there.

Portion wise, I would advice 2 person to share an order for one person as the portion is actually quite big as seen above. It is best to drop by by lunch time as some dishes are usually sold out after lunch.

Location wise, I find it weird that this place does not have a lot number. Everyone only refer to this location as "along Jalan Kilang Nenas". Do follow the location in foursquare in take note of the place looks like so that you don't miss it!
