Brief: Dear potential participants,

Ever fancied a life of adventure, discovery and excitement? Join a hundred strangers. Walk a hundred miles. With no change of socks. To sleep with bugs and bathe in streams. Would you give up the comforts of home in pursuit of a crazy dream?

Previous Raleigh International projects include building gravity feeds to supply fresh water to villages, building houses, schools, bridges and libraries; geological surveys, marine conservation work, working with rhinos & orang utans; as well as trekking across the Crocker Range, sea kayaking in Chile and trekking across some of the most arid parts of Namibia.

This year Raleigh International gives young Malaysians the opportunity to embark on life-changing expeditions to Malaysia, Costa Rica-Nicaragua, Namibia & India. These expeditions challenge young people, between the ages of 17 and 25 through community and conservation work in some of the world’s most remote destinations. Volunteers help build homes, community clinics and work with wildlife experts on some of the world’s most endangered species.

To qualify for an expedition as a Venturer, you have to be between 17-25 years of age, speak basic English and able to swim 200m unaided and qualify yourself at an Introduction Weekend. This Introduction Weekend is designed to simulate the rigors and challenges you will face on expedition. The details for the upcoming Introduction Weekend are as above.

The above application form document is your application on Raleigh International Kuala Lumpur’s Introduction Weekend and is your first step to a chance of a lifetime.

Please fill in this form and submit to the person and the address printed at the bottom by 28th of September 2008. This document once completely filled and submitted will be your request to be accepted on a Raleigh International expedition. Please note that incomplete applications (incomplete fields, lacking a referral or photo) will not be considered.

Personal Note: Basically, this is a 3 days Introduction Weekend programme that lets you briefly experience more about the 10 Weeks Expedition that Raleigh Uk organise. This expedition divides the 10 weeks into 3 phases which are Community, Environment and Adventure. So, what are you going to do in these 3 phases? Well, in Community, you will build a new building for the purpose as a library, community hall, clinic and so on. Never in your life have yout thought that you will be able to help the community to build something as big as this, right? Well, this is your chance! Now you can do so and make yourself proud for achieving such a thing! In Environment, we help scientist do research, do some conservation project or try to improve the conservation facilities in the virgin jungle of Borneo! These are not just any other jungle like taman negara Selangor. This is something you will be amazed of! The never-been-seen amazingly huge canopy tree, wildlifes, amazing view in the morning with the fogs all around! What's more, you get to live and experience living there! You just have to experience it for yourself! In Adventure, you will get to experience trekking in the Crocker Range or it might have been changed to another place, for about a week or so! Who would go with you to endure such tough trekking and camping in the jungle? It is not really something the university or school might organise, right? So, this is your chance to experience what you have been longing for! Besides that, the Adventure phase also includes conquering Mt.K! That's like a double bonus! Wait wait! You will also get a free Open Water Diving lesson and a license too when you pass the test! A triple bonus? *woot* But before all this, you will have to go throught the Introduction Weekend and raise an amount for your OWN EXPEDITION! But do not be afraid because our fundraiser officer will guide you through the fundraising process.

What are you still waiting for! Grab the Intro Week Application Form and Sign-up now!
